The Santa Monica Museum of Art (SMMoA) has reinvented itself with a new name and a downtown location (with a bright yellow facade).
ICALA
This weekend, celebrate ICA LA's grand opening in Downtown Los Angeles with performances, bilingual tours, and family-friendly workshops. Exhibitions feature a selection of drawings by self-taught Mexican artist Martín Ramírez, a major new installation by Abigail DeVille in the Project Room, and Sarah Cain’s monumental painting in the courtyard. Nearby....David Kordansky Gallery celebrates "Concerning Vietnam," an exhibition of new work by Matthew Brannon. The result of several years' worth of ongoing research and formal experimentation, it features unique large-scale prints, sculptures, and installation-based objects in which Brannon applies his inimitable graphic style to the psychological, political, and cultural impact of the Vietnam War. 
Also opening is "More Life," an exhibition of new paintings by Jennifer Guidi. Extending into one of the gallery's viewing rooms, the show will also feature a group of horizontal works in which the connection between landscape and abstraction is made directly tangible. Nicholas Bonamy's stunning cityscapes in Preapocolyptic Daydreams portray Los Angeles as a serene wonderland where vast polka dotted skies hover above candy colored buildings. The City of Angels is also Patrick Haemmerlein's muse in his latest exhibition, Living Image. His mixed-media pieces capture LA's beaches, mountains, and urban vistas using the artist's trademark blend of photography, painting, book pages, and sheet music. Morley is a Los Angeles-based street artist that specializes in bold, typographic posters which he wheatpastes within the urban landscape. In conjunction with the Getty’s initiative Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, LA Louver celebrates the art of Colombian-born artist Fanny Sanín.
