The Craft in America Center celebrates the art of Kazuki Takizawa. Los Angeles artist Kazuki Takizawa captures human emotions in the shimmering, fragile form of glass. Passion, turmoil, self-expression, and mental health are driving forces behind Takizawa's articulate approach to sculpture; for the past decade, Takizawa has been using the medium of glass to bring awareness to suicide prevention, bipolar disorder, and therapy. The artist uses blown and shaped glass to shed light on the darkness that can overwhelm those who face depression, disorder, and mental illness in their lives. His powerful bulbous shapes and vessels encapsulate these taboo topics and provide a personal catharsis to the artist. Art Talk 4:pm; Art Reception 5-7pm; Craft in America Center, 8415 W. Third St., Los Angeles, CA 90048; http://www.craftinamerica.org/
