WhiteHot Magazine Features Event Review About The TRASHion Show, Downtown LA!
A friend invited me to a fashion event entitled The TRASHion Show in downtown LA. The event was produced by Christine Spehar and Jessie Anderson from the non-profit organization RuckusRoots, with Michal Menert of Pretty Lights Music. Proceeds from the benefit will go to supporting sustainable arts education programs for under-served teens in East LA.

Micaso.NYC, Homegrown Beauty makes an Elegant Appearance
It is late one evening, in an Upper Westside New York city apartment. Two enthusiastic and determined mothers sit at the kitchen table, which is strewn with precious and semi- precious beads, gold and sterling clasps, wire everywhere. They are filling last minute orders, from a successful recent Trunk show. They sold almost every piece they brought. The kids are asleep…whew! They discuss the excitement of their customers´ reactions to their latest creations as one chides the other…."See, I told you they’d love the pink sapphire." They sip a glass of Cabernet and breathe a sigh of accomplishment.
Piper Kupersmith and Patty Tedesco were indeed the first to wear Micaso.NYC. Soon to be noticed by friends and family, who also wanted the chance to wear this delicate and tasteful jewelry, they started to create more and more pieces. Having an issue with taking money from their friends, they began by giving their creations as gifts. But their friends insisted on more. They were willing to pay for this authentic elegance and kept hounding Kupersmith and Tedesco. In addition, the friends of friends were excited about the opportunity to purchase these wearable works of art. After quite a bit of encouragement from close friends and family, Piper and Patty created Micaso.NYC, which stands for Mi(Michael) Ca(Cassidy) and So(Sonny). Yes, the children who inspired this jewelry line. Artist Lee Lucas and the Hottest New Bracelet, "The Looksy"
nger/songwriter, Lee Lucas performs all over LA with her band NeonWest and says that her music career inspired her to create the Looksy. She explains how "The Looksy" came about, “It was out of necessity. One night, at a gig, I was rushing to get up on stage, when I realized I hadn’t checked my lipstick. Looking around, I realized there was no mirror to be found and no time to go find one. That’s when the Looksy was born. I thought, wouldn’t it be great to have a mirror that you wear, a trendy bracelet that also doubled as a touch-up mirror?”
The Looksy is a leather bracelet/wristband with a mirror on it, perfect for a quick makeup check with a flip of the wrist. It currently comes in two styles, “Rockstar” and “Popstar” and four colors, black, white, dark brown and purple.
L
ee talks about how it all began with the early days of the Looksy. “I started with ribbon, glue and mirrors from craft stores. I have kept a lot my prototypes; it’s hilarious and inspiring when I look back on what they were when I first started creating The Looksy. They’ve really progressed, and now I am truly proud of The Looksy line.”
The Looksy is featured at Bohemian Exchange Boutique (1358 Abbot Kinney), and Rosenthal Estates Winery in Malibu, and others. Celebrities can be seen wearing the Looksy, such as singer Vicci Martinez (from NBC’s hit show, the Voice) and actress/model, Sarah Hester.
