There is nothing like giving the gift of original designs created from local artists. I happen to own several pieces of each of the below artist's jewelry. And I get so many great comments whenever I wear them. Its great to support local artists!!

ThTheLooksye Looksy bracelet has come along way...since it was first created in 2010. Now there is an eclectic assortment of colors. Created by Lee Lucas, a Venice California artist/designer, it's been in high demand since its inception.

In addition to black, white and dark brown, it comes in new metallic colors...pink, red and blue, and two tone colors (purple with a red lining) as well.

Price 19.95
Genuine Leather,
Made in USA.

The Looksy bracelet is available at Peter Marco Extraordinary Jewels (252 North Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills, CA 90210).

Stop by The Historic Downtown Farmer's market every Sunday from 9-2 Downtown Los Angeles at 5th Street and Broadway. Its the perfect time to buy a Looksy bracelet...its a great stocking stuffer. For more information or to order your very own Looksy bracelet, see http://thelooksybracelet.com

Another Venice artist Jennifer Verge created this urban jewelry line from recycled bottle caps.

IJenniferVergeJewelrymplementing an innovative technique, she creates the appearance of coins. She also incorporates second hand charms and reclaimed keys as part of her jewelry line.

You may recognize Verge's name as an up and coming artist...Working with wood, she creates pop art mixed media pieces that are quickly becoming collectibles.

Verge utilizes found objects in both her mixed media works and her jewelry.

See image of the VB necklace in Rust...

"This necklace is one of my favorites,  its great conversation piece with rusted out local bottle caps."

For more info about Jennifer's art see www.jenniferverge.com or her one of a kind jewelry visit her FB Page.

WhiteHot Magazine Features Event Review About The TRASHion Show, Downtown LA!

A friend invited me to a fashion event entitled The TRASHion Show in downtown LA. The event was produced by Christine Spehar and Jessie Anderson from the non-profit organization RuckusRoots, with Michal Menert of Pretty Lights Music. Proceeds from the benefit will go to supporting sustainable arts education programs for under-served teens in East LA.

WhiteHot Magazine, an international art magazine is featuring the article....hope you enjoy it.  Click here or on the article itself.

Artist Lee Lucas and the Hottest New Bracelet, "The Looksy"

Sileelucas looksynger/songwriter, Lee Lucas performs all over LA with her band NeonWest and says that her music career inspired her to create the Looksy. She explains how "The Looksy" came about, “It was out of necessity. One night, at a gig, I was rushing to get up on stage, when I realized I hadn’t checked my lipstick. Looking around, I realized there was no mirror to be found and no time to go find one. That’s when the Looksy was born. I thought, wouldn’t it be great to have a mirror that you wear, a trendy bracelet that also doubled as a touch-up mirror?”

The Looksy is a leather bracelet/wristband with a mirror on it, perfect for a quick makeup check with a flip of the wrist. It currently comes in two styles, “Rockstar” and “Popstar” and four colors, black, white, dark brown and purple.

Llooksy twoee talks about how it all began with the early days of the Looksy. “I started with ribbon, glue and mirrors from craft stores. I have kept a lot my prototypes; it’s hilarious and inspiring when I look back on what they were when I first started creating The Looksy. They’ve really progressed, and now I am truly proud of The Looksy line.”

The Looksy is featured at Bohemian Exchange Boutique (1358 Abbot Kinney), and Rosenthal Estates Winery in Malibu, and others. Celebrities can be seen wearing the Looksy, such as singer Vicci Martinez (from NBC’s hit show, the Voice) and actress/model, Sarah Hester.

For more info or to purchase the Looksy online, see the website at www.thelooksy.com as well as her band, NeonWest at their website, www.neonwest.com
